The Permeable City: Designing for Water

What is the role of water in the 21st-century city? A panel of experts discussed how water shapes urban life, from innovations in waterfront redevelopment to creative stormwater management strategies to delivering clean water amid ever-tightening EPA regulations. Held in conjunction with the 2010 Mayor’s Institute on City Design (MICD), this public lecture brought into focus one of the most pressing challenges for urban mayors and their administrations today. Speakers shared with the audience and the participating mayors innovative and sustainable solutions for managing stormwater. 

Invited guests includde Jason Schupbach, NEA;  Marilyn Jordan Taylor, PennDesign; Jim Corner, Field Operations; Aaron Koch, New York City Mayor’s Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability; Anu Mathur, PennDesign; Howard Neukrug, Philadelphia Water Department; and: Alan Greenberger, Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, City of Philadelphia
