Recap

Penn GIS Day, held in conjunction with the National GIS Day celebration, brought together academics and practitioners whose presentations showcased innovations of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in research and real-world applications.  The keynote address was given by Kevin Novak, Uber’s Head of Data Science, who presented on the data analysis and modeling that are the backbone behind the company’s popular success.  Additional speakers included Eugene Brusilovskiy, PennDesign; Ken Steif, PennDesign; Tara Jackson, Cartographic Modeling Lab; Paul Amos, Wharton GIS Lab; and Karl Dailey, Cartographic Modeling Lab. PennDesign Professors Dana Tomlin, Landscape Architecture, Amy Hillier, City and Regional Planning, and Penn IUR co-director, Susan Wachter. The event was co-sponsored by the Master of Urban Spatial Analytics program, the Cartographic Modeling Lab, the Wharton GIS Lab, PennDesign and Penn Engineering. Videos are available below.
