Penn GIS Day 2018

Kleinman Forum, Fisher Fine Arts, 4th Floor

Join Penn IUR and the Masters of Urban Spatial Analytics Program (MUSA) to celebrate the GIS Day, a national day addressing the importance of geospatial analysis. This year, Penn IUR and MUSA have partnered with Tyler Technologies, Inc. Formerly known as Socrata, this newly acquired venture created the Socrata Connected Government Cloud solution, which helps move government organizations into a secure, cloud-based, self-service environment that breaks down data silos, promotes collaboration and reuse of data, and gives the government employee a modern toolset to transform data into information and insights they can use to improve financial, operational and strategic outcomes. Together, we will host a “Master Class” with James Cheshire, Senior Lecturer in Quantitative Human Geography, UCL Department of Geography, who will lead a live webcast and “hackathon” workshop on cartography and data visualization in R, a statistical software used in mapping. This event is also co-sponsored by the Master of Urban Spatial Analytics, the Department of City and Regional Planning, and the Wharton GIS Lab.
