past event

Kleinman Center for Energy Policy Forum, Fisher Fine Arts

Recap

How do we design urban places that reduce violence and crime, increase environmental sustainability, and support the public’s health and well-being? Researchers discussed the latest research findings on best practices and health outcomes across the nation and learn how low cost, place-based initiatives can transform the health and safety of urban areas. Speakers included Charles Branas, Professor of Epidemiology, University of Pennsylvania; Sara Heller, Professor of Criminology, University of Pennsylvania; Rupal Sanghvi, Founder, HealthxDesign; and Bob Grossmann, Senior Director, Vacant Land, Philadelphia Horticultural Society. Co-sponsored by Penn IUR, the Center for Public Health Initiatives (CPHI), PennDesign, and the Urban Health Lab.
