The Interrupters: Every City Needs Its Heroes

past event

Claudia Cohen Hall G17

Join The Penn Injury Science Center (PISC) and Penn IUR for a film screening of the documentary “The Interrupters: Every City Needs Its Heroes” by Alex Kotlowitz, Emmy award-winning author and film director. Following the filming, there will be a discussion of safety and our cities. Continuing his inquiry into social issues in America, Kotlowitz’s documentary The Interrupters—a collaboration with Hoop Dreams director/ producer Steve James—examines the stubborn persistence of urban violence and was praised by A.O. Scott for its ability to “open up” the topic of urban violence and not limit the story to “the comforting clarity of easy conclusions.” For more information, please visit the PISC website
