Gabrielle Cayo is a rising senior at the University of Pennsylvania majoring in Urban Studies and International Relations. She serves as Co-chair of UMOJA, representing all Black student organizations at Penn, leading campus-wide service initiatives, and planning events for 250+ students. She also directs Asé Academy, an organization mentoring Philadelphia youth through the Netter Center, and is currently conducting research on the community impacts of nuclear complexes as an Andrea Mitchell Center Undergraduate Research Fellow. Through internships with the National Urban League, the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the University of Auckland, she has worked at the intersection of civic engagement, socio-economic development, public policy, and academic research. In her future career, Cayo intends to pursue a career in sustainable urban policy and infrastructure development through federal organizations like the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
