Book Talk: Peter Hendee Brown, America’s Waterfront Revival, Port Authorities and Urban Redevelopment (Philadelphia: University of Pennsylvania Press, 2008)

Co-sponsored with PennDesign’s Historic Preservation Program and AIA Philadelphia, Peter Brown, University of Minnesota, discussed his book, America’s Waterfront Revival, an examination of the role of the nation’s industrial-era port authorities in shaping today’s cities. Focusing on Tampa, San Francisco, San Diego, and the Delaware River, Brown demonstrated their varied adaptations to ever-changing economic trends, technological developments, and the pressures of a globalized economy. Local officials offered comments.  The event was followed by a book signing and reception.  Books were also be available to purchase.
