Building a Hyperconnected City

past event

World Forum, Perry World House

Please join Penn IUR and Econsult Solutions, Inc. (ESI) for an interactive discussion on findings from a year-long global assessment of smart city solutions. Presenters and panelists will explore how cities can go beyond current smart solutions to become ‘hyperconnected’ hubs generating large economic, social, and environmental benefits by linking key elements of their urban landscape—from transportation to public health and security, government to business and residents. Speakers will provide an overview of the study’s research objectives, demonstrate how cities are using data and technology to generate return on investment, and explore how others can develop their own playbook to become hyperconnected leaders.

This half-day program will feature presentations by Richard Voith, President and Principal, ESI, and Daniel Miles, Vice President and Associate Principal, ESI. Following the presentations, Eugenie L. Birch, Co-Director, Penn IUR, will moderate a discussion with William Baver, Vice President Smart World Team, NTT Data; Ana Moreno, Secretariat Coordinator, Habitat III; Martin O’Malley, Former Mayor of the City of Baltimore and Former Governor of Maryland; Piyush Pandey, Managing Director, Cyber Risk Services, Deloitte; and Joseph Viscuso, Senior Vice President and Director of Strategic Growth, Pennoni.

This event celebrates Penn’s “Year of Data.”
