Join the Penn Institute for Urban Research for a virtual discussion on tuition-free community colleges. The event will feature Zakiya Smith Ellis, Chief Policy Advisor, New Jersey Governor Phil D. Murphy; Mike Flores, Chancellor, Alamo Colleges District; Martha Kanter, CEO, College Promise; and Edward Smith, Education Program Officer, The Kresge Foundation. The discussion will be moderated by Laura Perna, Vice Provost for Faculty and GSE Centennial Presidential Professor of Education. Panelists will identify key issues in the tuition-free community college movement (e.g., achieving equitable education and workforce outcomes for community college students), explore current initiatives across all levels of government related to community college tuition, and discuss recommended approaches.
