Recap

This joint Penn IUR / City Planning doctoral seminar event featured a presentation by Mark Alan Hughes, Distinguished Senior Fellow in the Robert A. Fox Leadership Program at the University of Pennsylvania, at PennDesign, and at the TC Chan Center. The presentation focused on the concept and ongoing research for a joint position paper being developed for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Copenhagen taking place in December 2009.  Specifically, the paper explored the concept of an “energyshed,” a spatial organization at the regional scale that will facilitate metropolitan regions in managing climate change.  Co-authors of the joint position paper were John Byrne, Distinguished Professor of Public Policy, director of The University of Delaware Center for Energy and Environmental Policy, and a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group III; and Laurie Actman, Executive Director, Metropolitan Caucus.
