MUSA Earth Day Event: Urban Strategies and Innovations for a Sustainable Planet from Penn IUR on Vimeo.
Penn IUR and MUSA’s Annual Earth Day event was a conversation about the changing role that cities, government, and technology play in addressing issues of environmental urgency. EPA Regional Administrator Shawn M. Garvin provided introductory comments about Earth Day, EPA’s work in the Mid-Atlantic Region, and on the shifting role of environmental protection in urban and metropolitan areas. Guest panelists included: Sara Mazano-Díaz, GSA Regional Administrator; Colin Enssle, Senior Manager GE Water & Process Technologies; Robert Cheetham, President and CEO of Azavea; and Julie Ulrich, Urban Strategies and Watershed Coordinator at The Nature Conservancy. Panelists discussed how innovations in technology, policy, and public-private agency are helping to improve responsible management of resources, and to drive and achieve local and regional sustainability goals. John Landis, Crossways Professor of City and Regional Planning will moderated the panel. The event was co-sponsored by Wharton’s Initiative for Global Environmental Leadership.
