Please join us for a MUSA lunch talk on GIS and Community Development. Katie Nelson, Associate Director of Data and Product Development of PolicyMap, and Scott Haag, Research Associate of the Policy Solutions Team, of The Reinvestment Fund (TRF) will discuss their work with the Philadelphia-based Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI. Katie and Scott work closely with both the analysis and management of the groups’ geospatial databases and infrastructure. They will discuss the development and use of GIS as a tool for policy makers and community stakeholders, and review past and on-going projects involving spatial analysis and customized data-mapping tools that help guide policy and investment decisions. Katie is a graduate of PennDesign’s Master of City and Regional Planning program and Scott is currently a Phd student at Drexel’s College of Computing and Informatics. The session is free and open to the public; lunch will be served. Registration required.
