Event Recap

Penn IUR and MUSA partnered up for the first of many gatherings for the Penn IUR MUSA Lunch Speaker Series. Friday’s lunch talk, titled “GIS and Spatial Data Analysis,” involved two MUSA alumni who now work for the Data Analytics Team at Azavea, a geospatial analysis (GIS) firm specializing in location-based web and mobile application development. Daniel McGlone (MUSA ’12) and Amory Hillengas (MUSA ’12) presented case studies from their work with various clients around the Philadelphia region, which primarily consist of non-profit and government organizations. Their presentations included a project that looked at gap analysis mapping for the Wilma Theater, an accessibility analysis of parks and greenspace in Delaware for the Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation, and other geospatial projects underway at Azavea.
