The Future of the U.S. Housing Finance System

As the housing market and overall economy rebound from the Great Financial Crisis, it is important to reflect on the lessons learned in order to design a more efficient, equitable and robust system of mortgage finance. This event brought together a diverse group of practitioners, academics and housing policy experts to share and discuss perspectives on how we can bring the U.S. system of mortgage finance into the 21st century. This public lecture featured a panel of leaders in housing policy, including Ted Tozer, President, Government National Mortgage Association (Ginnie Mae); David Stevens, President & CEO, Mortgage Bankers Association; and Bob Ryan, Senior Advisor, Federal Housing Finance Agency. This event was co-hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Penn Wharton Public Policy Initiative.
