Layla Sayed is a rising senior at the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Urban Studies and submatriculating into the Master of Science in Social Policy program. She is interested in the intersections of housing, criminal justice reform, and education. Last summer, she worked with the ACLU-NJ on the Clemency Project and explored housing issues during a semester abroad in Argentina, Barcelona, and South Africa. On campus, she is involved with Unearthed, a children’s magazine, and Penn Mock Trial. Layla is currently researching community resilience and the role of interfaith institutions in addressing food insecurity in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
