Tayeba Batool is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Pennsylvania. Her dissertation project focuses on governance, expertise, and practices around urban forests and greening in Pakistani cities. Drawing upon ethnographic and archival methods, her research addresses critical understandings on how the global climate governance impacts societies in the Global South in the everyday practices of cultivating and maintaining urban natures. Tayeba also holds a Masters in International Affairs from American University, Washington DC. Her master's thesis examined the politics of conservation, heritage, and development in the Walled City of Lahore. Prior to her time at Penn, she worked with international donor agencies in Pakistan to facilitate institutional and human capacity building measures for economic development, gender parity in trade, and private-public collaboration.
