What does food security mean to you? We are seeking images that illuminate the complex systems of food production, distribution, consumption and nutrition in the face of rapid urban population growth and climate change. 

Selected images will be included in Feeding Cities, a juried exhibition that will feature journalistic and artistic photos from the Penn community. The exhibition will be held March 7-21st in the Morgan Fine Arts Building on the UPenn campus. In addition, the exhibition materials will be made available in an online gallery.

The exhibition is the visual companion to Penn’s international conference Feeding Cities: Food Security in a Rapidly Urbanizing World, which will be held on campus March 13-15, 2013. For more information about the conference, visit the conference website.

Who Should Submit

The call for submissions is open to the entire Penn community. Students, alumni, faculty, and staff are invited to submit original photography to be featured as part of the exhibition.

Awards

Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories to participants whose submissions represent the most compelling examples of the complex nature of food security in a rapidly urbanizing world.

About the Organizers

The Penn Institute for Urban Research, in partnership with a university-wide faculty steering committee, is organizing the exhibition. An interdisciplinary jury will evaluate the submissions, select works to be included, and award prizes.
