Bing-yu Chiu is currently a Research Fellow at the Japan Transport and Tourism Research Institute (JTTRI) in Tokyo, Japan. He holds a PhD in City and Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), USA, and his research focuses on how public transport infrastructure affect travel behavior in developing cities. Prior to joining JTTRI and studying at UPenn, he (co)authored two books on sustainable urbanism in English and Chinese and had 6 years of work experience in consultancy, legislature, and local governments in Taiwan and environment-related internship experiences in South Korea and Japan.
