In a recent event in Washington, DC, and in our just-published Penn IUR Research Digest entitled “Housing Finance Reform”, economic experts and policy researchers delve into the question of how to best reform housing finance, a key element of the U.S. economy. Both the event and the research digest focus on topics addressed in the forthcoming volume Housing Finance Reform: Principles of Stability, edited by Susan Wachter and Joseph Tracy and scheduled for publication in Spring 2016. Topics include systemic risk, macroprudential mortgage-backed securitization and the TBA market, affordability and access, and the legislative context for housing reform.
