This interdisciplinary network recognizes PhD students across Penn who are undertaking an urban-focused course of study at the University of Pennsylvania. Through our network, Penn IUR nurtures a community of urban-focused doctoral students, providing opportunities to present research and learn from one-another.
Once a semester, Penn hosts a Lunch and Lightning Talks event showcasing the range of urban research conducted by Penn’s PhD students. Doctoral candidates from across the University present short talks (5 minutes or less) on their current research. The lunch is an opportunity to create cross-disciplinary connections across the University.
I found it very useful to connect with other scholars across disciplines to understand my area with more granularity and receive feedback to make my work in the Global South more impactful.
